HPMC Manufacturing Process
The production of Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose (HPMC) begins with refined cotton as the raw material. The fibers undergo alkalization with sodium hydroxide, followed by etherification using chloromethane and propylene oxide to introduce methyl and hydroxypropyl groups. These reactions occur under controlled temperature and pressure, ensuring the desired degree of substitution and viscosity. After the chemical reaction, the mixture is neutralized, washed, and purified to remove by-products. Finally, the product is dried, milled, and sieved into a fine powder, resulting in high-quality HPMC.
